Claims have been made for various media personalities such as Dom Joly, Boy George and the restaurant critic Giles Coren as having leaked Mr Giggs’ identity to general public.
But James Webley appears to have pipped them to the post by being one of the first people to post the identity – but potentially at risk from receiving a lawsuit himself.
Mr Webley, from Guildford, Surrey, who describes himself as a ‘leftie, activist, techie, banker – not the rich type’ and a ‘husband, guitarist, commuter’, could theoretically be accused of Contempt of Court.
If it were proved that he had intentionally flouted the law he could be fined, have his assets seized, or even be jailed.
Mr Webley wrote at 10pm - within six hours of the injunction being won at the High Court on April 14: ‘So if Ryan Giggs wanted to cover up a hypothetical affair with Big Brother’s Imogen Thomas would that be a super-injunction or a regular one.’
